about

Functional Music

Why do I make these things? Why do I bother? What are they for?
I can’t really say it’s dance music, although I have danced to it.
If I declared it to be some novel form of jazz, you would be within your rights to take such a claim as farcical, maybe fraudulent.
I know it’s not easy listening music, but I could live with calling it hard listening music. Not like hard times, but like the opposite of a music that excels at dissolving into attention, that music in the mall whose synthesized strings whine with hyperbolic familiarity, auditory consensus.
I don’t think it’s difficult. I think it grooves, which means it is a music that knows your body before you have even heard it, before you have even recognized that this sound is a musical sound.

Thank you, always and with great sincerity, for supporting my work.
Life in the Bush Can be Hard.
